As I have been so behind, here's a post (and some pictures) to keep you informed on all the other little things that have happened on my marathon journey to-date!
A little collage of the yummy foods I've been eating as part of my marathon 'diet' ... the best diet ever as I can eat as much of anything I want!
Some daffodils on my training run ... Richard's flower.
A collage of my team ... all the wonderful people, both friends and family, who have helped me on this incredible journey so far ...
Some very exciting post I got just a couple of days ago ... final details, my vest name letters and some yummy jelly babies!
The Gauntlet 12k with just a week to go!
Yesterday, with just a week to go, I ran the Gauntlet ... a 12k mud run in Essex. This was even more of a challenge than the Major Series, and pushed my sister Yolanda and I to our muddy limits!
With lots of slippery river banks to clamber up and down and 6 foot walls to climb, this was no easy run. We were hurdling hay bales and well as clambering up and over stacks of hay bales and under nets. We got very wet and cold when we had to swim underneath a row of floating barrels ... yes, I said underneath! Undeniably, the hardest obstacle of all was the swamp. A seemingly never-ending expanse of the thickest mud you could imagine. Most of the people we saw in the swamp had to be dragged out my professionals with ropes ... not us! We mastered the rolling technique, and with a lot of effort, eventually rolled ourselves to the other side! I was, and still am, very proud!
We did, needless to say, come pretty much last ... we were at the VERY back for the majority of the race but managed to overtake a fair few runners in the last 2km! We finished in 2 hours, 36 mins!

The Major Series 10k
I am sorry for not posting so many updates recently; I've been incredibly busy training (in the mud)
...
On the 16th of March I ran the 10k Major Series ... an incredibly challenging mud run. With just four weeks until the marathon, my friend Kelly and I were wading
through swamps and clambering under nets, through webs, under electric fences
and barbed wire, through tunnels, bouncing on space hoppers, doing wheel barrow
races, crawling under bridges, though tyres, over hay bales, through ice baths,
down slides and swimming through lakes ... in some very tough mud! It was the
first ever muddy obstacle race I have completed and I can safely say I
loved it ... thank you Kelly for persuading me to sign up!
...
A before
and after shot ...
Fresh faced before we started ...
A very muddy, slippery slide ...
We were still smiling!
Muddy warriors!
Crossing the finish line 2 hours and 35 mins later ... yes, it really took that long!!
We were very lucky and had beautiful sunshine all day long!
We were very proud of our NO MUD NO GLORY t-shirts and medals we received on completion!
This takes forever to wash out ...
I know these don't look very painful ... but they were ...
Finally, I want to say a huge THANK YOU to Amber Cars Leeds taxi company for being so supportive of us running the race. Not only did they take my friend and myself to the race and bring us home again, but they generously donated £50 to my charity, CLIC Sargent, and £50 to Kelly's chosen charity, Action for Children. We are so grateful and would encourage you to use their firm when in Leeds! The number is: 0113 231 1366.
